About

Hi! I'm Shana McKay from Scaffolded Math and Science. I design scaffolded, visual instructional materials to make grade-level math accessible to every learner in middle and high school math, grades 6-12. You’ll also find here additional supports for elementary age students to help build their skills for middle school.
My teaching career started in 2004 in the Boston Public Schools where I taught high school algebra and biology. Since then, I have taught general education and special education algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2 and consumer math.
I'm certified to teach math grades 1-12, biology grades 8-12 and students with moderate disabilities, and am currently a high school special education math teacher in addition to my work at Scaffolded Math and Science.
My undergraduate degree is in environmental science from UMass Amherst, and my graduate degree is in mathematics for teaching from Harvard Extension School. You can read more about my background here on my blog.
