"2 Truths and a Lie" Key Features of Rational Function Graphs Error Analysis
"2 Truths and a Lie" Key Features of Rational Function Graphs Error Analysis
This algebra 2 error analysis activity will make your students really think about rational function graphs. Students identify incorrect statements about zeros, horizontal asymptotes, vertical asymptotes, domain and range when presented with rational functions and sketches of their graphs. Students are then asked to fix each error on their answer sheet. Some numerators and/or denominators are quadratic.
On each card there is a rational equation and three statements about its vertical asymptote, horizontal asymptote, zeros, domain and/or range. Students need to figure out which of the 3 statements is false (the "lie"), then correct the false statement on their answer sheet.
This activity gives students practice with finding the key features of rational functions, as well as recognizing errors when they occur.
There are 10 cards, a student answer sheet and an answer key included.
