This algebra error analysis activity will make your students really think about polynomial operations. Students identify incorrect statements when presented with monomials and binomials to add, subtract and multiply. Students are then asked to fix each error on their answer sheet.
On each card there are 2 polynomials and statements about their sum, difference and product. Students need to figure out which of the 3 statements is false (the "lie"), then correct the false statement on their answer sheet.
This activity gives students practice with polynomial operations, as well as recognizing errors when they occur.
