Area of Composite Figures Irregular Shapes Nets Math Pennant Activity
Students find the area of irregular shapes made of rectangles and triangles in this activity that doubles as classroom décor. Some of the irregular shapes are nets (rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, square pyramids, triangular pyramids).
Students do not need to know surface area formulas or the formula for the area of a trapezoid to compute any of the areas.
Once each pennant is complete, it can be hung on a string in your classroom to show the world that, "Hey, we know how to find surface area of nets!"
Included inside:
20 math pennants
optional student answer sheet
answer key
Each group of students can be given a set of pennants, scissors and either glue, tape or a stapler. Students can be in charge of cutting out the pennants. Groups can compete to see which group can complete the most pennants or your entire class can add pennants to one string as they complete each one. You may also choose to have your students color their pennants to add to your classroom décor.
This math pennant is also on TPT, if you prefer shopping there.
