Comparing Fractions Like & Unlike Denominators Math Pennant Activity
Comparing Fractions Like & Unlike Denominators Math Pennant Activity
Students compare fractions with like and unlike denominators in this math pennant activity that doubles as a colorful classroom bulletin board display.
First, students color portions of circles to represent the two given fractions. They then add a <, >, or = sign between the two fractions to show which is larger.
There are 2 pennants per page. All fraction circles are partitioned and have denominators of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12.
Included inside:
- 15 math pennants with like denominators
- 17 math pennants with unlike denominators
- optional student answer sheet
- answer key
Once a pennant is complete, it can be hung along a string in your classroom to show the world that, "Hey, we know how to compare fractions!"
Each group of students can be given a set of pennants, crayons, scissors and either glue, tape or a stapler. Students can be in charge of cutting out the pennants. Groups can compete to see which group can complete the most pennants or your entire class can add pennants to one string as they complete each one.
This math pennant is also on TPT, if you prefer shopping there.
