This error analysis activity will get your students thinking about and discussing how to calculate tax, tip and discount percentages! Students identify incorrect statements when presented with tax, tip and discount problems, then are asked to fix each error.

On each card there are 3 statements about percent tax, percent tip or percent discount. Students need to figure out which of the 3 statements is false (the "lie"), then correct the false statement on their answer sheet.

This activity gives students practice calculating percentages and with recognizing errors when they occur.
