Vertical Number Line
Vertical Number Line
This vertical number line looks like a thermometer and is perfect to hang in a classroom where students are learning about integers. Students can relate negative numbers to negative temperatures. This helps when discussing absolute value and integer operations.
For the printable version, you can choose to print in color or in black and white. Both are included. Each page overlaps a little, making it easier to tape together - just trim and align to the next page. When assembled, the thermometer is just under 7 vertical pages long.
The no-prep digital vertical number line is in Google Slides. Additional integers references have been added to the digital version. Each image on the home screen clicks to an enlarged image. You can see the home screen of the digital thermometer in one of the thumbnail images.

This looks so good on my wall. My students use this as a reference and it is so helpful and colorful!
My students really like this resource and found it engaging. Thanks!
Students in Grade 6 in Ontario have never seen integers before. This was such a good anchor for them to refer back too.
The students are engaged and get lots of great practice over the skills we are focusing on when we use these.
I have had this in my room for years and students always refer to it throughout the year
